The Mountain Pepperleaf (Tasmannia lanceolata) is native to moist temperate forest areas in Tasmania, Victoria, Southern NSW and the ACT.
Dorrigo Pepperleaf ( Tasmannia stipitata) is very similar in flavour. It grows in the subtropical regions of the east coast of Australia.
A sharper alternative to everyday pepper, with earthy overtones.
The leaves and the berries are dried & milled and used to flavour sauces, chutneys, meats, cheeses, pate, breads, dampers, pastas etc.
Use you would conventional pepper.
