Old Man Saltbush is a familiar sight over vast areas in the dry inland of Australia. In some areas of outback NSW lamb are enclosed in paddocks of saltbush for their final three months resulting in a tender, tasty, fat reduced meat.

The Ground Saltbush that we sell comes from plants that have been nurtured resulting in a different flavour from the wild variety.

Saltbush flakes are a wonderful addition to bread, grills, pasta and as a pot herb.

We love to include it in rissoles, guacamole, salsa and dukka.

Packed in resealable bags to minimise postage costs.

I love using saltbush as a seasoning for almost anything, but particularly chops and fish.

    EXCITING FLAVOUR

Posted by Unknown on 27th Dec 2017

First use of saltbush to make saltbush butter for grilling lobster tails on Xmas day. All my 8 guests were highly impressed with the salty herbaceous flavour. Very unique product. Don't need much saltbush to turn seafood it into a special dish.

    Mild. Nice. Interesting.
Dry rub on lamb cutlets over night. No other seasoning. Delicious.

    Well rounded herb

We have been using saltbush for several years now, using it in place of mineral salt. We find that we don't need to use as much as you would salt. It is also nice to know that it is a native seasoning that puts a unique twist on our food. We even use it in our fermenting vegetables in place of salt.

    Brilliant with lamb

I have loved lamb that has fed on saltbush, usually only available from premium butchers at premium prices. With marinating the result is almost the same, give it a go. Works well with Tuna steaks too. I am hooked on Australian herb combinations

First time I've tried it and it's so versatile. Adds lots of flavour and I'll definitely be buying it again
