$9.90
$9.90

50gm dried quandong (Australia's Wild Peach). Reconstitutes to approx 220gm when soaked in water.

Quandong fruit can be dried and frozen for 8 years or more, without losing any flavour.  This lot is from the current season in the NSW Outback.

Quandongs were much valued for their medicinal properties.

Specialised uses included a form of tea which was drunk as a purgative.

Quandong tree roots were also ground down and used as an infusion for the treatment of rheumatism.

Quandong leaves and Quandong Kernels were crushed and mixed with saliva to produce a topical ointment for skin sores and boils.

Quandong Kernels were also eaten and sometimes crushed and used as a form of "hair conditioning oil".

Packed in resealable bags to minimise postage costs.

Dried quondong halves

Made a sauce with these to use with a kangaroo fillet dish. The recipe came from a book called Edna’s Table bush food recipes. Sauce Ingreds: Garlic, fresh ginger, honey, chicken stock and pre-soaked quondong. Roo was soaked in brine for two hours, oiled and encrusted with bush dukkah and baked. Served with cauli mash with aniseed myrtle, grilled baby brussel sprouts and crisps of parsnip and sweet potato. The quondong sauce was the key to a sensational dish, and complemented the roo perfectly....

Awesome

I’m a commercial mead {honey wine} producer, I use the Quandongs for an Aussie version of my product. I produce 19 different meads from traditional to fruity meads.

Quandongs

As expected. Lots of taste either nibbled on dried or reconstituted. I find these better to use in cooking than frozen ones as the taste is more intense.
